Menstrual hygiene and Hygolet – a look at innovations and commitment

The history of menstrual hygiene goes back a long way and is characterized by cultural practices and innovative developments. Even in ancient times, women used materials such as cloth, moss or papyrus to ensure hygiene during their periods. These simple aids evolved over the centuries. The first disposable pads and tampons were introduced at the beginning of the 20th century and gradually became more widely accepted. Today, we are at a stage where innovations not only improve comfort and ease of use, but also promote awareness of menstrual health and hygiene.

1992: The introduction of the Hygobag dispenser & the Wallbox

Hygolet’s journey into the world of feminine hygiene began in 1992 when we launched our first range of feminine hygiene products. At a time when hygiene products were becoming increasingly important, we recognized the need to offer high quality and accessible solutions to meet women’s needs. In addition to the Hygobag dispenser, this also included the matching hygiene bag for pads and tampons. This bag is dark blue in color to help conceal the red of the blood.

As they are made of materials that do not break down in water, they can easily cause blockages and place a heavy burden on the sewage system. Thanks to the wallbox, this problem has been solved.

With the introduction of the Wallbox All-in-One, we set a new standard in feminine hygiene. It combines the bag dispenser and the waste garbage can in one compact and user-friendly product. A practical solution for public and semi-public sanitary facilities. The Wallbox All-in-One represents another important step in our mission to make hygiene products user-friendly, durable and aesthetically pleasing.

2020: Universal dispenser and refills

The universal dispensers we launched in 2020 offer a cost-effective alternative to the classic Hygolet bag dispensers and are the ideal solution for companies and public facilities. With the different universal bag designs and various surface finishes, these dispensers fit seamlessly into any room concept. The dispensers not only impress with their attractive appearance, but also with their easily replaceable refill packs, which reduce maintenance and reduce costs.

2022: HygoComfort

In 2022, we launched the HygoComfort – a solution that dispenses both tampons and sanitary pads. This innovation ensures that women and girls have access to menstrual products in emergencies and also normal circumstances. The dispensers are suitable for schools because many girls experience their first period during a school day. This means they can discreetly use a tampon or sanitary towel in the washroom. We have also included various menstrual products in our range to match the dispenser. With the combination of HygoComfort and Wallbox All-in-One, all feminine hygiene needs are covered.

Today and a look into the future

Since this year, we have been offering certain feminine hygiene dispensers such as the Wallbox AiO with a new, more elegant finish. These Edgeline models offer a modern and elegant design for the washroom.
We also offer the right consumables for our dispensers. This includes the universal feminine hygiene bags that can be used anywhere. In the near future, we will also be offering these in the color purple. With this version, we offer our customers a new variant of the hygiene bag, which offers additional options for the design of the washroom.

Commitment to feminine hygiene and partnership with Menstrual Hygiene Day

For us, feminine hygiene is more than just a product category – it is a topic that is close to our hearts. That’s why we are proud partners and sponsors of the annual Menstrual Hygiene Day. This day highlights the importance of menstrual hygiene worldwide and works to ensure that all women, with a focus on developing countries, have access to the necessary products and information. We also provide our feminine hygiene products free of charge to the regional women’s shelter and continue to support them with donations.
